The Institute of Genetics (Gebäude/Building 301) and the neighboring Institute for Biochemistry (Gebäude/Building 300) and the Botanical Institute (Gebäude/Building 304) are located right between the railway station "Köln Süd" and the tram station "Dasselstraße/Bahnhof Süd" (Line 9).

From Köln Hauptbahnhof / Cologne Main Station (Dom)
The easiest connection (two stations) would be by train:
There are several trains from "Köln Hauptbahnhof" (Hbf) / "Cologne Main Station" to "Köln Süd".
Choose the Regional Express (RE) or Regionalbahn (RB): Deutsche Bahn

Via underground tram: Inside the train station in the main lobby (right next to the cathedral) you will find the entrance to the Underground. Get on a tram number 16 or 18 (direction "Neumarkt") and get off two stations later at "Neumarkt"; from there go upstairs to the ground level and take the tramway (line 9) three stations to "Dasselstrasse/Bhf. Süd".

The journey from main station to the Institute takes ~ 20 minutes; a taxi costs about 12 Euro.


From Köln Messe Deutz Station / Cologne Trade Fair Deutz
Via tramway (line 9) six stations in the direction of Sülz/Universität to station "Dasselstrasse/Bhf. Süd".
The journey takes about 15 minutes.

Ticket machines are on the platforms and even inside the trams.
Specific information is available at the information desk of the Deutsche Bahn (railway system)
or Kölner Verkehrsbetriebe (KVB) (underground/tram system).

...by Air

From Airport Köln-Bonn / Cologne-Bonn (CGN)
You can go by tram (S-Bahn line S 13 - every 20 minutes, on Sundays every 30 minutes) or train to Cologne Messe Deutz ("Cologne Trade Fair Deutz") station.
** In Deutz you will arrive at ground level; follow the direction "koelnmesse" and go downstairs, to the underground - ; from there take the tramway (Line 9, direction Sülz/Universität). **
A taxi costs about 25 Euro.

Way back to the airport: You can catch the S-Bahn Line S 13 (direction: Troisdorf) at the main train station (Dom/Hbf) or at the station Köln Messe Deutz. It takes 15 minutes to go from the main train station to the airport.


From Airport Düsseldorf (DUS)
Take the skytrain to the railway station of the airport. There are several trains to Cologne/main station.
The journey from the airport to main station takes about 40 minutes.

(To skip one changeover on your way, you can also get off at "Köln Messe Deutz" and take the tram: You will arrive at ground level in Deutz; follow the direction "koelnmesse" and go downstairs, to the underground - follow the crowd and take the tramway, Line 9, direction Sülz/Universität).

From Airport Frankfurt (FRA)
Via train to Cologne/Main station or Köln Messe Deutz (see above).
